His intentions are disrupted when he finds himself pursued by an unknown operative who appears to anticipate his actions with uncanny accuracy. The individual hunting him seems strangely familiar... To be direct, Smith and Winstead were worthy of a stronger script than this one. The writing feels underdeveloped and carelessly constructed; Ang Lee doesn't seem like the right fit for such a concept-driven action movie, and the action sequences suffer from substandard special effects. In truth, even though the plot is predictable, it’s consistently undermined by the visible CGI. Despite its flaws, the film maintains a certain energy and avoids becoming dull. The actors are captivating enough to keep you invested, and even as overly sweet elements dominate towards the end, one can still recognize an attempt to create an existential clone thriller. However, with Jerry Bruckheimer involved in production, it’s evident that there's a desire for a straightforward popcorn action experience struggling against the narrative's more literary aspirations. It isn't the absolute worst entry in the clone science fiction genre, but it also doesn't leave a lasting impression.
