It feels like *Running Man*, but with elements reminiscent of Facebook—and that's about all it offers. It’s closer in spirit to the original novel than to Schwarzenegger’s film adaptation, though. At its heart, it's a familiar narrative, one that has been brought to the screen several times before. The story’s internal consistency is lacking; things just don’t quite make sense. The unclear guidelines and excessively violent action sequences prevent any real feeling of peril or empathy for those involved in the conflicts. Beyond the fighting, there's a dearth of suspense, opportunities for strong performances, meaningful conversations, or even character growth. The futuristic jargon doesn’t ring true either. The initial computer-generated imagery is also noticeably weak, even considering when it was made. (A suggestion: if the budget isn't there for quality CGI, rely on practical effects instead.) If you’re looking for action that doesn’t require much thought, *Hardcore Henry* would be a better choice; and to experience something intelligent and engaging about this concept, I suggest reading Stephen King’s "The Running Man." This movie isn't worth the time.
