The music’s initial notes evoke "Lawrence of Arabia," carrying that familiar Maurice Jarre sound even before any action unfolds! Following that, it develops into an enjoyable and sophisticated crime story about Michael Caine convincing Shirley MacLaine to assist him in swindling a wealthy, isolated man, Herbert Lom, out of a valuable sculpture from his supposedly impenetrable penthouse. The plot moves quickly, featuring various devices and some clever exchanges; MacLaine is excellent as the seemingly naive partner to Caine's deceptive gentleman, though Lom truly shines as the unsuspecting victim. Arnold Moss contributes a solid performance, albeit brief, with John Abbott also doing well, appearing to have the final say.
