It’s hard to pull off a western combined with horror elements, and this film fails spectacularly at the challenge, made worse by an unsuccessful effort to incorporate Gothic themes and dreamlike imagery. The entire movie doesn't succeed; it feels like a collection of flawed concepts presented inadequately by both the actors and those behind the camera. The story—or what passes for one—involves Wesley Snipes’ character, who has dreadlocks and appears to be some kind of spirit walker, seeking vengeance against the undead, beings who previously assaulted his family. Numerous plot threads are introduced, including repeated flashbacks, shifts in time, and warped portrayals of characters, all unfolding against a desolate western setting. There's plenty of blood spilled, but the film itself remains silly, and the whole thing feels like an exploitative fantasy centered on women. The production design is acceptable, with the scenes set in a slaughterhouse and the costume design being above average, and Snipes manages to maintain his composure even if he must be aware that he’s participating in a very bad movie. Ultimately, this is one best skipped. 2/10
