This movie, G20, doesn't work at all—it’s a complete letdown across the board. The performers are the only good thing about it; Viola Davis and Antony Starr give committed performances. Director Patricia Riggen seemed to want to convey a sense of justice and strength, but what we get is just an empty story that follows predictable patterns and doesn't make much sense. The action sequences are frequently difficult to follow, there’s not enough exploration of any meaningful ideas, and the way it deals with serious topics feels careless and shallow, making for one of the least impressive films released this year. It's a standard thriller that tries to copy earlier successful movies but doesn't come close to achieving what it sets out to do. Rating: D
