The discovery of an old bomb from World War II near Paddington railway station triggers a frantic evacuation and security perimeter set up by law enforcement in anticipation of the arrival of the army’s bomb disposal unit. Leading that team is 'Maj. Tranter' (Aaron Taylor-Johnson), who has experience with conflict zones like Afghanistan, and he immediately establishes safety areas while informing the chief superintendent (Gugu Mbatha-Raw) that they are dealing with a potentially lengthy operation to neutralize the device. Simultaneously, it turns out that some individuals were already in one of the evacuated apartments, planning to drill through into the adjacent bank to access its vault and steal valuables from safety deposit boxes. Is this just bad luck for Sam Worthington and his team, led by 'Karalis' (Theo James)? As the police investigation intensifies and the gang is forced to find a less-than-ideal escape route to another location, their carefully laid plans begin to unravel—or do they? Meanwhile, a sharp corporal working at the site begins to wonder if something isn’t quite right. What’s really happening? It's refreshing that the filmmakers invested in realistic settings and cast Aaron Taylor-Johnson, who proves he can carry an action movie (and includes a shower scene). The film relies on practical effects rather than computer graphics, and while the story itself is somewhat predictable, I appreciated the ending because the directors, Ben Hopkins and David Mackenzie, stuck to their vision as the final moments cleverly tie up loose ends. Featuring explosions, gunfire, and tool-based action, this was a surprisingly enjoyable experience, even if Theo James doesn't leave a lasting impression.
