I was aware that several viewers had expressed concerns about the film’s authenticity, despite its favorable ratings on various platforms. I hoped these complaints were minor issues, like inaccuracies regarding specific military equipment. Unfortunately, my worries proved to be justified. It's evident that the script comes from someone in Hollywood who has no practical experience with military operations, let alone firsthand involvement. I can usually overlook some historical inaccuracies or a lack of realism if the rest of the film is enjoyable, but I honestly didn’t find myself liking this movie, even after trying to disregard the unrealistic elements. The film presents a bleak and gritty atmosphere, and there aren't any characters that you particularly root for. The soldier who became a tank machine gunner was perhaps somewhat sympathetic, but his assignment itself felt contrived. In this story, the “heroes” don’t seem much better than their adversaries. I found the scene where "Wardaddy" forces the aforementioned soldier to execute an unarmed prisoner deeply disturbing. While such events may have occurred during wartime, I didn't want to be entertained by them in a movie. That said, the acting and cinematography were generally excellent, with one significant exception: the excessive use of tracer bullet effects. Tracer rounds don’t look like something out of a science fiction film, and I can attest to that from my own military service—something the producers and consultants (if any) apparently lacked. The movie's rhythm felt inconsistent at times. Certain sequences moved quickly, while others, such as the scene in the apartment with the two German women, dragged on and became tedious. The final confrontation was simply absurd and illogical. It began abruptly when the young soldier notices approaching German infantry. Then, an unreasonably long time passes before they arrive, giving our “heroes” ample opportunity to prepare. There’s no way a single Sherman tank could withstand such an attack, and the Germans wouldn't have engaged with ineffective weaponry against it. Furthermore, why would they leave ammunition outside the tank if they had so much time to get ready? It felt like a contrived plot device for a dramatic scene. And don’t even mention how the German forces seemingly pause whenever the director wants to insert slow-motion shots inside the tank. The conclusion left me unsatisfied; I dislike unhappy endings, and this one offered no sense of closure or reward after enduring over two hours. I'm quite disappointed.
