It's one of those situations where the filmmakers chose an English title, but then altered it—apparently, the original didn’t seem quite right for them. In France, they call it Fast & Furious 7, while here in the US it’s known as Furious Seven. That’s a pretty typical approach from French productions, I'm afraid. This film probably won't appeal to everyone, but it’s consistent with what we’ve come to expect from recent installments of the Fast & Furious franchise. You could describe it as a series of explosions, fast cars, fighting sequences—did I mention explosions?—that continue until the end credits appear. For my part, it delivered exactly what I was hoping for in this particular movie. If you enjoy fast vehicles, plenty of action, spectacular special effects, and some macho dialogue, then you’ll likely find it enjoyable. The core group is back together again. I have to admit that I'm a fan of both Vin Diesel and Dwayne Johnson, even though their acting isn't exactly Shakespearean. However, they are well-suited for this kind of film. Unfortunately, Dwayne Johnson had a noticeably reduced role in the movie. When he reappeared after his brief appearance at the beginning, it was with considerable force. I honestly anticipated not liking “Mr. Nobody,” but I ended up enjoying him quite a bit. Despite being an action movie geared toward men, there's still a basic storyline present. It’s essentially a revenge plot, though it’s padded out enough to make it reasonably engaging—at least within the context of this type of film. Objectively speaking, the entire movie is completely absurd. The stunts are impressive, but once you step back from the excitement, many of them seem quite unrealistic. Things like jumping between buildings in high-performance cars, for example. Even if we disregard the most outlandish moments, there’s still plenty to find fault with. For instance, those classic American cars that Torretto drives wouldn't stand a chance against his more modern opponents unless they were on a perfectly straight road. But then again, these kinds of over-the-top elements are what define the Fast & Furious series, aren't they? After roughly two hours of outlandish but entertaining action sequences, there’s a happy resolution, and as the credits roll, I can say that I am satisfied with what I saw.
