I believed I’d already watched most of Jim Carrey’s movies, but then I realized that wasn't the case, and I chose to begin with this one. It’s a reimagining of a film from the 1970s, or you could say another adaptation for the screen based on the book with the same title. I haven’t experienced the earlier version, but I have to say that I really liked it. It's not the funniest movie I’ve ever encountered, but it is very good, featuring strong acting, especially from Jim Carrey. The plot centers around a couple who find themselves out of work and struggle to find new employment. They start losing possessions one by one, and eventually their home becomes the last thing they want to lose. So, they come up with an extreme plan to resolve their situation, which seems to be working well—at least for now. Then comes their ultimate scheme for a lasting solution, and how they put it into action leads us to the film’s end. The movie moves quickly; it feels too brief, like a television program. This leaves you wanting more, but it wraps up in a satisfying way. The story might seem ridiculous, but that's what makes the comedy work. And if you appreciate Jim Carrey and his signature humor, then you’ll likely enjoy this film. Honestly, I haven’t seen a good comedy released recently, so I’m glad I watched this one, even though it’s been around for ten years. There aren't any serious issues like drug use, sexual content, or nudity in the movie, so I think it is suitable for family audiences. _7/10_
