This film really divides itself into two distinct sections. Initially, it’s concerned with showing how inexperienced individuals are prepared for their roles, and what follows feels familiar—like revisiting _Stripes_ or _Police Academy_. The storyline involving the heavier character is presented in a way that's been done before, echoing scenes from _Stripes_ and _Police Academy_ ("I could show a movie on your butt, fatso," Lt Harris says in _Police Academy_), but it’s pushed to its extreme. The episode where the larger character gets stuck on a climbing frame becomes a key element of the plot, overshadowing Matthew Modine's role and centering around what seems like a _Leslie Barbara_ situation. However, the latter portion does offer something unexpected when the sniper is identified.
