This is a really strong film centered on a disturbing real-life occurrence. Michael B. Jordan delivers a remarkable performance as the main character; it’s truly impressive work. Several other actors also do good jobs, and Octavia Spencer, playing Wanda, was particularly memorable—she seems to consistently deliver great performances. Melonie Diaz's portrayal of Sophina stood out as well. The narrative unfolds in a direct manner but remains deeply impactful; there were moments where it felt somewhat heavy-handed, though even then I experienced that unpleasant sensation of unease. The final scene is especially difficult to shake, largely thanks to Spencer’s acting. *Fruitvale Station* is definitely worth seeing.
