I didn’t watch any previews or read a description beforehand; I simply decided to see it. Honestly, I wasn't entirely happy for the first hour. I kept questioning what the film was trying to achieve and whether it would satisfy viewers. It quickly became clear that this wasn't intended as pure entertainment—it seemed designed to convey something important or deliver a message. That’s how I felt until nearing the end. Then, my viewpoint shifted; in fact, it altered my earlier assessment of everything that had come before. **''I know y'all are upset, but got to lift him up. Let's keep him lifted up.''** The final scene left me speechless when I saw the event depicted onscreen. It became clear then that all the preceding events held significance in relation to this moment. That’s when I learned it was based on a true story. It isn’t a complete biography, even though it focuses on a pivotal period in his life. The incident can be interpreted in different ways; the confrontation undoubtedly occurred on the subway, and the main character wasn't at fault. Nevertheless, repercussions were inevitable, particularly given that it happened on New Year’s Eve when authorities must remain vigilant against violence. However, the police response was an overreaction to what had transpired. These kinds of events occur in countries everywhere, but many go unreported. I appreciate this film because it helps raise awareness about such occurrences. My respect goes out to everyone involved in bringing it to theaters so that people worldwide can learn the truth. It’s a movie worth seeing among films released in 2013.
