I’d been looking forward to seeing this film given all the attention it's received, though my experience hasn't quite lived up to expectations. The animation is certainly impressive, maintaining Disney’s characteristic level of detail and offering moments of humor. It also includes two female characters who manage to drive the narrative without needing a male rescuer; however, they are portrayed as exceptionally beautiful and flawless Disney princesses, which prevents them from feeling like relatable young women with everyday lives. Furthermore, Queen Elsa's part in the story doesn’t carry quite the weight one might anticipate. It isn’t a terrible movie, but it falls short of being outstanding and I don’t think it comes close to providing the enjoyment I got from *Tangled*.
