Films featuring Timothy Spall or Maggie Smith usually prove worthwhile, and this one boasts both actors. I’m also fond of Pauline Collins, remembering her performance in No Honestly from a long time ago. I'm generally not drawn to supernatural or ghost stories, so I am unsure what is standard for the genre, but it appears the screenplay occasionally bends the rules regarding the ghosts' visibility, which changes as the narrative unfolds. However, the writers seemed aware of this, and a character even makes note of it. Ultimately, it didn’t detract from my enjoyment. And I should mention Hugh Bonneville is also in it, delivering a very good performance, as one would anticipate. The conclusion felt rather obvious to me; perhaps that's because I write novels and therefore tend to predict plot developments. It was pleasing to see Tolly, the teenage boy who serves as the central character, demonstrate some personal development throughout his experiences. I don’t think I’ll feel compelled to rewatch it, but I have no regrets about having seen it.
