I can’t believe it! It was likely the most enjoyable moviegoing experience I had in 1996. I'm a huge fan of "From Dusk Till Dawn"; it’s definitely one of those films that audiences either completely embrace or reject. There are no surprises; the film delivers precisely what director Robert Rodriguez and writer Quentin Tarantino promised – a gritty road movie that evolves into an over-the-top horror movie filled with gore. The story, such as it is, follows two criminal brothers, Seth (George Clooney) & Richie Gecko (Tarantino), who are on the run after Richie helps Seth escape from prison. They’re heading to Mexico with a large sum of money obtained through a robbery. After dealing with a couple of unfortunate incidents for some people, the brothers need transportation and end up abducting Reverend Jacob (Harvey Keitel), his daughter Kate (Juliette Lewis), and adopted son Scott (Ernest Liu). From that point on they must reach a meeting place in Mexico – a bar called "The Titty Twister," where they’ll trade money with an acquaintance of Seth's and begin new lives as Mexican citizens. The problem is, "The Titty Twister" isn’t just any bar; it's a vampire hideout, and the Gecko brothers—along with their unwilling companions—are on the menu. Will they survive until dawn and find salvation in daylight? Profanity, blood, severed limbs, nudity, violence, sexual content, firearms, more violence, more blood, other weapons, lots of teeth, bats, a snake, even more violence. It goes on like that, but as Rodriguez and Tarantino start hitting you with a blunt instrument, they’re also tickling your funny bone. A crucial element is that "From Dusk Till Dawn" is genuinely hilarious; surprisingly, many critics have missed this point entirely. You can find people online criticizing the characters for being underdeveloped or the plot for being ridiculous! It's hard to comprehend. If you dislike the film, fine, but failing to grasp its genre and its nods to other films is as amusing as Cheech Marin’s performance (one of many fantastic "B" movie actors in the picture). It’s completely crazy and silly, but once you become a fan of "From Dusk Till Dawn," you're hooked for life. Of course, that’s assuming you don’t decide to visit “The Titty Twister” yourself.. Welcome To Slavery. 9/10
