It’s possible this didn't really require a fresh take, but it remains pretty enjoyable. Anton Yeltsin, playing "Charley," shares a home with his mother, "Jane" (Toni Collette), when the appealing "Jerry" (Colin Farrell) arrives as their new neighbor. “Charley” isn’t swayed by Jerry's charm, and after some odd events, he starts to think that this newcomer will never be able to use a sunbed. Naturally, no one takes him seriously, so he looks for "Peter," the alleged vampire hunter (David Tennant, in good form). The situation escalates when he learns that the girl he likes, “Amy” (Imogen Potts), is being targeted, and he has to rely on every religious artifact, trickery, and boldness he can muster to try and stop this formidable and old threat. It seems like everyone involved is having a laugh, the story progresses at a good pace, and the actors—particularly Farrell in a delightfully over-the-top performance—appear to be having a great time too. The special effects aren't groundbreaking, but they work well enough, and as expected, goodness will ultimately prevail. It’s simple entertainment for younger viewers, nothing more, but I did find it quite fun.
