It’s true there have been many slasher films before this one, but it’s hard to deny its impact on the genre. This film shares a unique characteristic with _Part V: A New Beginning_—they're the only installments in the 12-movie series that treat the killer as an enigma. I believe if they had used that approach for every movie, it would have become tiresome; however, here, it works well and helps the film. _Friday the 13th_ is a movie I make a point of watching annually since seeing it for the first time in the early 2000s. It might not be considered the greatest motion picture ever made, or even the finest example of the slasher genre, and perhaps it isn't even the strongest entry within its own series, but the fact that I still enjoy it after all this time has to mean something. _Final rating:★★★½ - I really liked it. I would definitely suggest checking it out._
