It’s true that certain movies get better with age, developing a fondness associated with earlier times. However, others decline, becoming unpleasant, much like _Friday the 13th_. Maybe experiencing it when it was first released was necessary to truly enjoy it; I don't see how it's as revolutionary as some claim. It feels more like another variation on movies such as _Psycho_ and _Halloween_, only without a substantial financial investment. And the performances weren’t particularly memorable, either.
