I truly wish I could award this Arthur Marks-directed film TEN stars; that’s just how much I enjoy it. "Friday Foster" is one of my favorite movies ever, and I never tire of watching it. I love this film so very much, as do I its beautiful star, Pam Grier—a motion picture luminary in her own right. Opening with a great soundtrack, the movie “Friday Foster” honors the character Friday Foster, a gorgeous former model turned magazine photographer portrayed by Grier, who gets caught up in a murder-for-hire plot targeting America’s wealthiest black man, the fictional Blake Tarr, played by another 70s film/TV legend, Thalamus Rasulala. Inside an airplane hangar, a hired killer tries (but fails) to assassinate Tarr, which forces Friday, without realizing it, to find safety behind some shielding. The stubborn and rebellious Friday is not only shaken up but also witnesses what’s happening; she sees the assassin's face, as he does hers. Immediately after that, Friday has her name added to the hit list. Why? Because while taking pictures of the chaos, Friday also captured a still image of the would-be killer's face. From there, folks, the action and suspense builds...and builds…and builds. As the plot unfolds in this fast-paced, well-shot action thriller, the Yves Saint Laurent silk scarf-wearing, Louis Vuitton Speedy bag-carrying Friday decides to take it upon herself to “play detective”—much to her boss’s dismay—to figure out what's going on with the failed assassination attempt on Blake Tarr and also to prevent a hit on her. Enter private eye Colt Hawkins, played by Yaphet Kotto, who joins forces with Friday (at Friday’s request) to capture not only the would-be killer but also those higher ups who arranged the contract on Tarr's life. "Friday Foster" takes viewers on one helluva dangerous and exciting thrill ride—from Los Angeles to Washington, DC—leaving a trail of dead bodies behind...including that of Friday’s best friend, Cloris. The cast includes Carl Weathers, Godfrey Cambridge, Eartha Mitt, Jason Bernard, Ted Lange, Rosalind Miles, and Julius Harris, among others. "Friday Foster" is an aged story about money, power, ruthlessness, deception, and murder; it's a cult classic in film history. The suspense never lets up until the end credits roll. A great movie! Five out of five HUGE stars!
