It’s possible to give this film credit for at least attempting something different. However, it didn't really connect with me. I've never been a fan of movies shot in a shaky, handheld style, and this one didn't improve on that format. It tried to be unique by mimicking the look of an old World War II-era film camera rather than a standard handy-cam, but as far as I’m concerned, it didn’t make much difference. The effect was just some scratches and occasional simulated reel endings popping up, usually right before something violent occurred. And speaking of violence, the movie wasn't particularly graphic, except for the presence of scattered body parts. A lot of what was intended to be gory felt goofy, maybe meant to be comical but mostly just plain silly. The scene where the so-called “genius” character was combining brain matter—one from a Nazi and one from a communist—was simply ridiculous and depressing. The promotional material suggests this was Hitler’s final, terrible effort to secure victory in the war, but within the film itself, it seemed more like a drug-fueled fantasy of some eccentric individuals. The primary antagonist completely failed to convey any sense of intelligence, and there didn't appear to be any backing from the Nazi leadership either. What made things even worse was that I couldn’t find a single character in the movie that I could relate to or like. Every person felt like either an extra, insane, unpleasant, or some combination of those qualities. I honestly had to push myself to finish watching it.
