I’m genuinely perplexed by the creature’s appearance—why make him attractive? Netflix seems to have a current trend of sexualizing characters, even historical figures like Ed Gein, and it’s baffling. Like all Guillermo del Toro films, this one is remarkably striking from a visual standpoint, and I'd even suggest his artistic style approaches Tim Burton’s in terms of quality. The film offers a constant stream of beautiful imagery; it’s truly something to behold. The acting is quite good, particularly the smaller roles—Charles Dance, Christoph Waltz, and David Bradley were standouts. However, a significant portion of the novel was either omitted or altered, so those who enjoyed the original story might find themselves let down, as I did. You should definitely read the book; it’s really good.
