It’s easy to see this film as being completely different from “Lord of the Flies,” even though both offer believable portrayals of children facing difficult situations. The key distinction is that there's an adult teacher present to help guide the kids. There isn't a plane crash either; instead, the children are taken from a secluded school located in a very isolated part of Australia. This film has several captivating elements. Initially, you have a lovely female instructor and her students—they’re all mixed ages and grades because the class is so small and remote. Then there are the four kidnappers. They conceal their faces with masks; one, dressed as Father Christmas, poses a serious threat. Another, who goes by "the mouse," is also quite dangerous. The remaining two have their own issues to deal with. “Kitty cat” seems like someone who might now be considered a "sexual predator," and "the duck" appears to be the least enthusiastic of the group. Rather than revealing what happens, I’ll stop here so you can experience the story yourself, as there are many adventures that the main characters face. I compare it to “Flies” because, unlike the children in that film who treat each other badly, these kids band together and try to survive against the person who is causing them trouble.
