This is a skillfully crafted film centered on sports and racing, featuring strong performances from Damon and Bale—which is expected, really—and truly impressive race scenes alongside remarkable sound design. I did initially worry whether the narrative would be substantial enough to sustain almost two and a half hours, but it managed to hold my attention throughout, even if the conclusion felt somewhat underwhelming. Nevertheless, James Mangold delivered a commendable piece of work. **4.5/5**
