I’m not entirely sure about *Flight Risk*, although I ended up finding something to appreciate in it. It suffers from uneven suspense, some awkward attempts at humor, and doesn’t quite deliver the kind of entertainment you’d expect from an action thriller. However, the acting is strong, the exterior shots of a plane look realistic, and its complicated plot keeps things interesting enough. Mark Wahlberg (with a funny accent), Michelle Dockery, and Topher Grace were all enjoyable to watch. Grace manages to rise above some truly embarrassing lines that I hope were intended for him; the jokes fall flat, but he’s good during the more dramatic scenes. Monib Abhat also struggles with comedic moments, though he does manage to pull them off somewhat, which is helped by his mostly voice-only role. It was a pleasant enough moviegoing experience. As luck would have it, I got to see it on a big screen as part of a double feature—this time paired with Steven Soderbergh’s *Presence*. Watching films back-to-back for ninety minutes isn't usually an issue for me, but occasionally longer movies can feel like a lot. For what it's worth, that other film is superior.
