Flight 7500 doesn’t quite manage to get off the ground due to a flawed screenplay and a storyline that suggested more substance than it ultimately possessed. The narrative is filled with moments where something could have been done better, and the visuals appear uneven, frequently highlighting details that don't connect to anything else. There are instances where it seems like the editing put visual style ahead of telling the story effectively; many shots feel designed as if they were meant to be scenic pictures rather than advancing what’s happening. The writing suffers from dialogue that feels strange and out of place, such as a scene where someone is struggling for air and then immediately being asked if they are alright. Conversations about deceased spirits are handled in an oddly nonchalant way that diminishes the seriousness those scenes should convey. This absence of genuine feeling leaves the conversations sounding empty and disconnected. The acting itself is inconsistent; some performances are better than others. Amy Smart does what she can with the material she’s given, though her character doesn't offer much for her to do. Ryan Kwanten, portraying Lance Morrell, who is the first to die, provides the most engaging performance in the movie. Ultimately, Flight 7500 seemed like it could have been something more, but a superficial script, unremarkable acting, and perplexing editing prevent it from making any significant impact.
