This version seems to be a reimagining of THE DEFIANT ONES from 1958, starring Sidney Poitier. The racial themes that were central to the earlier film are largely absent here; instead, they incorporated several plot developments and additional characters in a style reminiscent of JERRY BRUCKHEIMER productions. It’s likely more enjoyable if considered as an action movie drawing inspiration from it rather than a direct remake. Laurence Fishburne is consistently engaging to watch, and Stephen Baldwin provides some amusement too. Salma Hayek and Will Patton also have smaller parts in the film. The antagonist could have been better developed; he didn't leave much of an impression. Despite that, it’s reasonably entertaining overall, earning a rating of 6.5/10.
