It's remarkable to pause and consider that Joel Schumacher directed this film while seemingly fully embracing his directorial style, and yet the result is surprisingly effective, gripping, and genuinely scary. How did they manage that? I mean, the narrative was solid for a horror movie, certainly engaging enough. And it’s true that the cast assembled was excellent, and the performances were exceptionally good. There were numerous positive elements at play, even considering it was Joel Schumacher directing in the nineties—a period often associated with his distinct style. Basically, I'm suggesting you should check it out regardless of who directed it.
