This movie isn’t good, to put it mildly. I read one critic describe the armor worn by Arthur’s group as resembling something from *Star Trek*, and another refer to the villain's armor as being like what you’d see in *The Road Warrior*. Both observations were pretty spot-on; nothing felt authentic to the period, instead giving off a distinctly futuristic vibe. The casting choices also seemed off. Gere appeared too aged for his role, and the age gap between Connery and Ormond was noticeably large, making it hard to accept their characters within the context of the stories they're supposedly based on. Plus, Gere’s portrayal felt very Americanized. Then there’s a challenge course that seems ripped straight from *American Ninja Warrior*—or, if you want to go back further, *American Gladiators*. Whatever the reference, it really drained any sense of realism from the film; at this point, seeing robots or blasters wouldn't have been surprising. Visually and emotionally, it just didn’t work. I suppose it could potentially function as a romance, but even then, it suffers from a lack of charm, so I don't know if that would be appealing. Essentially, it’s *King Arthur* filtered through everything negative about films made in the nineties.
