Max, Leo and Fruitcake. Amongst the many action-adventure movies that appeared following Raiders of the Lost Ark's success in 1981, Firewalker has a questionable standing. However, it’s an enjoyable film filled with silly moments and energetic antics where Chuck Norris, Louis Gosset Jr., and Melody Anderson seem to be having a good time and not treating it as seriously as some moviegoers might expect. The familiar plot unfolds: two adventure-seeking companions who have a playful dynamic of sarcasm and mutual respect team up with an attractive woman possessing a treasure map—and she also has a special ability involving visions. This leads to numerous challenges, disagreements, a touch of romance, further danger, an exaggerated villain (played by Sonny Landham), and a friend needing assistance (the similarly over-the-top John Rhys-Davies). The film showcases Norris’ martial arts abilities, notably during a lively bar fight, while the deliberate humor lands effectively (a swimming scene and the use of religious costumes are especially amusing). It's easy to spot flaws in the production values and technical aspects if you look for them, but embrace it as pure escapism, and you can have a great time. That’s certainly what I experienced. 7/10
