Fired Up feels like the cheerleading equivalent of Pitch Perfect. It’s full of quirky characters, really funny situations, and lines that are memorable in a laugh-out-loud way. The film embraces its own silliness and seems to revel in every odd moment. While the idea of two guys ditching football camp to pursue girls at cheerleading camp might seem familiar from other teen movies, Fired Up turns out to be surprisingly enjoyable, clever, and occasionally even charming. Eric Christian Olsen and Nicholas D’Agosto work well together as a comedy team, delivering one-liners with great chemistry and plenty of laughs. And John Michael Higgins is consistently funny and over-the-top. Ultimately, Fired Up is a better-than-average movie that relies on silly humor, thanks to a cast and director who clearly understand how to make people laugh.
