What felt innovative back in 2001 now appears commonplace, resembling a typical cutscene from a PlayStation 2 game. Consequently, the story carries much of the weight, but even that is rather underdeveloped. The characters are poorly realized, the plot lacks substance, and the animation is stiff and unrealistic, which diminishes what was once a pioneering film. Adding to this, it doesn't closely mirror the engaging, though simple, games, and the script seems clumsily translated; as a result, the entire movie feels lackluster, disorienting, and ultimately unsatisfying.
