I'm honestly surprised by how positive people seem to be about this movie. "Final Destination: Bloodlines" isn’t terrible, but it definitely has some problems. What works well is that the acting is solid and the plot, though predictable, is nicely presented with characters who feel real and easy to connect with. There's also a decent amount of sixties-era atmosphere that plays on common anxieties—like being in a revolving restaurant high up in a building. I can relate to this personally, having been in two such restaurants, one in Hong Kong and another in China, so it did get a nervous laugh out of me. However, the film’s biggest weakness is that the deaths could have been inventive and clever without being so over-the-top. This aspect was really unpleasant and makes me unlikely to seek out more films like this one. It feels cheap, tasteless, and sensationalized, which ultimately ruins what might otherwise have been a genuinely creepy experience. Ultimately, there's a lot here that’s enjoyable, but the excessive and disturbing death scenes were too much for me and lessened my overall enjoyment of the film.
