Get ready. Kimberly Corman experiences a frightening premonition of a highway accident that will kill her and her companions. By positioning her vehicle to obstruct the roadway, she observes the collision with dread, which paradoxically allows her to survive along with those behind her in traffic. However, death isn’t satisfied and intends to collect the lives of everyone who was supposed to perish in the disaster. A sequel needs a new angle to be successful; otherwise, what's the point? The creators of Final Destination 2 stick closely to the original film’s established framework, though they do inject more dark humor into the inventive death sequences. Beginning with a genuinely shocking highway pileup, the movie follows several characters as they meet their ends in bizarre and unpleasant ways. While the writers, Bress and Gruber, seem to believe they're adding complexity by integrating this plot with the first film’s storyline, it ultimately comes across as just silly entertainment. Ali Larter reprises her role, joined by a cast of relatively unknown actors awaiting their demise—a perfectly acceptable arrangement for fans of the genre. It's an absolute blast, and if you don't overthink things (and why would you?), you might have a genuinely enjoyable time. 7/10
