My fiancée enjoys these kinds of movies—though her tolerance for sexual content onscreen is lower than mine, and I’m willing to endure some pretty bad films for it—so we went to see this one on Valentine's Day. I want to highlight a significant issue, and I’ll do so by referencing the film’s summary: "Anastasia must confront the anger and envy of the women who came before her." That entire plot point is resolved in roughly five minutes of screen time. It essentially *is* the movie's storyline, yet it's dealt with quickly, around the midpoint, and then completely dropped from consideration afterward. It feels like an afterthought...but it’s supposed to be central to everything. I’ve seen films built around similar themes that actually have more narrative substance than this one does. But let’s face it, you're primarily watching it for the BDSM elements—which are also presented in a rather restrained fashion—so I can’t even award it a perfect score, and I tend to be quite lenient when writing reviews.
