Reno on Fifty Shades Darker

6/10 · Jul 30, 2017

The movie didn't fare as well as its literary counterpart. Like the initial installment, this one also falls short of being very good. Perhaps that’s due to the subject matter; films with similar premises often perform exceptionally well commercially, but this film isn’t earning high marks or generating excitement. I don’t imagine anyone will find it truly awful, so it's a watchable movie, just not one people will love. The narrative moves forward, and this time it centers on mutual understanding rather than an arrangement or experiment. So the erotic journey of Grey and Ana continues. The plot progresses with minor developments until reaching its conclusion. Those tuning in for specific scenes are likely to enjoy themselves. However, nothing about it rivals the quality of comparable European films. Aside from a somewhat flimsy storyline, there’s not much wrong with it. As for what this film is trying to be, it succeeds adequately. I'm suggesting you shouldn't anticipate a complete romance-drama experience. The actors deliver solid performances as always, and two more movies are planned in the 'Fifty Shades' series. I am hoping those will surpass the first two. It’s really geared toward a specific audience, but curiosity will probably compel many to see it and share their opinions, which tend to be mixed with average or negative assessments. Still, it is an acceptable film. _6/10_
