“Ferdy,” a gentle bull, simply desires tranquility in his field of blossoms, but after being stung by a bee, he goes on a destructive spree. This performance catches the attention of local officials who decide he would be an ideal threat at the upcoming bullfight. With promotional images showcasing this fearsome creature with horns, he enters the arena, only to find that he has returned to his peaceful nature. He refuses to attack the matador, especially when flowers are tossed into the ring, bringing back memories of his home. Will he ever charge or is he fated to return to his quiet existence without recognition? This animation proves to be quite delightful, enhanced by amusing expressions from the audience and the obvious frustration of a bullfighter desperate for an opportunity to fight. “Ferdinand” seems completely unaware of all the commotion, the noise, and the anticipation—and I appreciated that it didn't have a heavy-handed lesson like many Disney films often do. It’s simply entertaining as it is, which I found quite pleasant.
