Nathan Stewart-Jarrett portrays "Jules," a drag performer who finds himself needing cigarettes after a show, leading him to a convenience store where he’s confronted by a group of prejudiced young men. Against better judgment, he reacts to their insults and is subsequently attacked. The aftermath leaves him withdrawn and struggling with the experience, impacting his connections with his roommates Toby (John McCrea) and Molly (Antonio Clarke). His perspective shifts after visiting a sauna, where he reconnects with Preston (George MacKay), who, despite being aggressive, seems to be hiding something about himself. Their encounter is intense and immediate – then his new acquaintance abruptly leaves. This sparks an idea in Jules’ mind, which leads him to create a plan involving YouTube to expose Preston to the people who harmed him. What neither man anticipates—nor what the audience does—is how the narrative will shift from retribution and violence toward something more substantial. "Jules" adjusts to Preston's world of drugs, aggression, and animosity, even finding ways to use it for his benefit, which elicits a surprisingly tender reaction from this new acquaintance. However, one has to wonder if people can truly change. While Nathan Stewart-Jarrett delivers an excellent performance, George MacKay’s portrayal particularly stood out; there's a genuine quality to his depiction of this troubled person, and as the film unfolds and their relationship changes, he provokes a degree of sympathy. The movie doesn’t offer resolution, concluding the film but not the narrative itself. It's a realistic drama that highlights how prejudice continues to exist and is absolutely worth seeing.
