It’s an enjoyable film that I would happily watch again, and I feel comfortable suggesting it to others. While the events depicted are genuinely tragic for those involved, the narrative's execution is skillful enough that the sense of sorrow dissipated rather rapidly. Even though a quarter-century has passed since its release, this movie remains strong; however, the presence of cellphones would significantly alter the plot, which could be an interesting premise for another film exploring an alternate timeline. The performances are superb, the dialogue is delivered exceptionally well, and the story itself is captivating. The cinematography stands out as a particular strength, with the snowy Minnesota landscape contributing to powerful scenes of isolation and emphasizing the lack of warmth in the characters’ actions. I believe there's even a moment where the circumstances are briefly described as being "all over a little money," which feels entirely accurate. Nothing truly rises to the level of being extraordinary, but every aspect is so well-managed that I genuinely consider this an excellent demonstration of how a film should be made.
