It’s an appealing concept: three men embodying distinct phases in a woman's life. I really enjoyed this drama; I was hoping for something like this to be made and I’ve been anticipating its release. Romance is central to the film, though it isn’t solely about that. It’s adapted from a novel published over a century ago, marking the fourth time the story has been brought to screen. While I'm familiar with 'Tamara Drewe', which was modernized, I haven’t seen any other versions. Nevertheless, I suspect this one will be regarded as the finest adaptation. I think Carey Mulligan is comparable to Jake Gyllenhaal in terms of British and American acting talent; they consistently choose interesting projects, and I appreciate that. Mulligan's performance here was superb, and Matthias Schoenaerts matched her quality. Together, they gave the film a poetic feel, with strong contributions from supporting actors like Michael Sheen and Tom Sturridge as well. If you’re drawn to historical dramas, this is likely something you’ll find enjoyable. The narrative was exceptionally well-crafted. This multi-faceted romantic storyline unfolds across what feels like distinct periods of time, much like the changing landscape reflects human evolution over a couple of hours. It's one of the best films I’ve seen recently. The director of 'The Hunt' delivered an impressive performance. If you appreciate storytelling similar to Jane Austen’s style, I suggest giving this a try; I wholeheartedly recommend it! _8/10_
