Given the impressive cast involved, I feel that the narrative itself wasn't quite as impactful as it could have been. While I’m willing to accept a convenient plot device to kick things off, this one relied on them excessively; perhaps “It Must Be Fate” would have been a more fitting title. Netflix has labeled this a Christmas film due to its bookends set during the holiday season, but at its heart, it's a love story. I don’t want to fault Meryl Streep’s portrayal, however, Frank—played by De Niro—abandoned his wife, who was both appealing, supportive, and amusing, as well as a good mother to their children, for another attractive and funny woman, potentially at the cost of losing those kids. That's apparently what constitutes true love. Molly’s husband, on Streep’s character’s side, didn’t appear particularly remarkable either. I do believe that more attention should have been paid to developing both sets of spouses; a little more depth would have helped. Nevertheless, it was acceptable. Alright, let's move on—there’s nothing else noteworthy here.
