This movie contains a charming moment featuring "Holappa" (Jussi Vatanen) and his friend in an Helsinki karaoke bar, where the bartender’s demeanor is strikingly reminiscent of a zombie extra. The narrative centers on "Holappa" and "Ansa" (Alma Pöysti), whose initial date at the local “Ritz” cinema seems like an improbable foundation for a relationship – even though their subsequent conversation unfolds beneath a poster for "Brief Encounter." She was recently dismissed from her job after taking expired food from the supermarket where she worked. He has faced several firings due to frequent vodka breaks during work hours. Their paths cross when her previous employer is arrested on drug charges. They connect, share coffee, and then go to the cinema. However, she holds reservations about excessive drinking, a problem that has deeply impacted her family; he doesn't seem to take this seriously, but perhaps she’s had more of an influence on him than he initially understood. It’s possible he might change his ways, or maybe she will offer him another opportunity. The film is full of humor, although it’s dark and understated. There are plot points that one shouldn't find amusing, yet laughter arises nonetheless, and the conclusion leaves the viewer with a sense of hope mixed with uncertainty. It isn't overtly comedic, but you'll discover many things to smile about if you pay attention for eighty minutes. It might not be something the Finnish Culture Ministry would fully embrace, but I found it enjoyable.
