Fair Play steadily increased the feeling of unease throughout, culminating in a finale filled with suspicion, dread, and deception that proved to be quite intense and skillfully executed. Experiencing Fair Play at Sundance 2023 alongside other film lovers created an exciting atmosphere! It wasn't exactly the kind of movie I usually go for, but it was undeniably impressive; the mounting anxiety and pressure were constant from beginning to end, ultimately erupting into a chaotic display of madness and distrust in the final scenes. My pulse raced as these characters’ self-interest and envy transformed into outright animosity. It wasn't until after the film finished that I felt like I could relax! The director managed to accomplish so much with such limited resources, expertly creating suspense and keeping viewers anxious. Because of the characters’ inflated egos and focus on themselves, it was difficult to find enjoyment in watching them, but the talent and expertise are clear, which explains why it garnered such a positive reception at Sundance and was quickly acquired by Netflix.
