I didn’t find exactly what I was hoping for, though the movie proved to be enjoyable because of its straightforwardness. The characters feel like people you might encounter in a small town, and they are standing up for what they believe in. A teenager named James, on the verge of college acceptance, finds himself caught up in a complicated romantic situation, struggling with what feels right to him but conflicts with others’ perspectives. Having recently returned from rehab, he now faces pressure to meet the expectations surrounding him. His father tries to support him, though it seems like he doesn't fully grasp James's circumstances. We are privy to all the events unfolding during his brief time before starting college. Considering its budget, the film possesses a surprisingly high level of production value. It’s impressive across the board, but the plot itself isn’t particularly thrilling. The scenes and conversations often feel predictable. I think it might have worked better as a shorter project than a full-length feature. At ninety minutes long, there's not much that sticks with you after a few days. Everything feels familiar; we’ve seen these elements in other movies before. It won’t hurt to watch it once, but it isn’t essential viewing, even for those who appreciate LGBT stories. Just don’t expect too much. _6/10_
