Wallace gets to the heart of something—you’d understand if you were familiar with history. It's not driven by animosity, but rather a sense of empathy. *Faccia a faccia* (Face to face) comes from Sergio Sollima, who also collaborated on the script with Sergio Donati. The film features Gian Maria Volontè, Tomas Milian, and William Berger; Ennio Morricone composed the music, while Emilio Foriscot and Rafael Pacheco handled the cinematography. Brad Fletcher, played by Volontè, is a professor from New England suffering from health problems, so he moves West in search of a more favorable climate. Upon arriving in Texas, he’s unfortunately captured by wounded outlaw Beauregard Bennet (Milian), which sets off an unexpected shift in their characters' trajectories. Following his strong film *La resa dei conti* (The Big Gundown), Sollima created this comparable, though more intricate, classic of Spaghetti Western cinema. Frequently mentioned as having underlying political themes—something Sollima refuted—it’s essentially a story about a decent person descending into darkness and a villain finding redemption. Naturally, there are observations about politics and society, reflecting the post-Civil War South, and some of the more thoughtful dialogue becomes even richer with repeated viewings. It's definitely quite verbose, but it also includes some outstanding action scenes, especially in the final section, culminating in a truly Leone-esque ending with impressive visuals. The three lead actors—all legends of the Spag Western genre—deliver excellent performances, and Sollima along with his cinematographers create an expansive feel through its location shooting. Make sure to avoid shortened or dubbed versions; it’s best experienced in its complete form with Italian audio and subtitles available. 8/10
