This is a really fantastic action film. Fabricated City features a polished, futuristic look, a breakneck speed throughout, and some truly spectacular action sequences—the chase scenes are particularly intense. The performers all have great chemistry together, and the electronic music complements the overall feel wonderfully. The plot feels somewhat hurried initially, and I thought that certain supporting characters might have benefited from more fleshing out, but those concerns become insignificant as the movie progresses. The combination of tension, how the team works together, and inventive, extravagant action is very effective. What’s particularly interesting is that many of these minor problems are resolved in The Manipulated, which is a series based on the film. It develops the characters further, allows for more exploration of the world, and expands upon some concepts introduced in the movie. Also, Ji Chang-wook returns as the character constantly on the run, creating a nice connection between them. Ultimately, it’s a very enjoyable, high-octane action experience—and it's even better when viewed alongside the series.
