This horror film sets itself apart by opting for a localized and disturbing mood instead of relying on familiar elements. Here's why it’s worth acquiring: The rhythm and feel of the movie begin deliberately slowly, focusing on the awkwardness between Anna and her grandmother, May. This initial discomfort really highlights the significant difference in their generations. The creature at its center reimagines the Sandman, moving away from established stories to portray him as a particular, spectral presence within Porterville. Although it doesn't have the obvious qualities of an iconic film, its realistic take on regional horror makes it worthwhile for fans of the genre.
