The film, a horror comedy that loses focus somewhat as it progresses, suffers from Will Forte’s performance feeling unfocused at times, and this impacted how I watched it. However, Maeve Higgins' work—marking her first appearance in a feature film—and the generally humorous tone of Extra Ordinary help to compensate, providing moments of genuine laughter (I certainly found myself chuckling on numerous occasions due to some cleverly timed lines) and fresh approaches to filmmaking. Certain sequences stand out as remarkably original, including how the directors mock elements related to black magic; Jarvis Cocker’s song during the credits is a particularly good fit for these scenes, and they are all quite impressive.
