Ahern and Loughman’s affection for the project is evident, and when it connects, ‘Extra Ordinary’ offers a story of personal growth blended with gentle comedy and an uncomfortable romantic thread. However, the film's inconsistency holds it back; the tone feels unsteady, some jokes fall flat, the performances are inconsistent, and there are too many physical gags that don't quite land—preventing it from being anything more than simply average.
