I’m interested in seeing the director's cut; this version feels completely mishandled after filming wrapped. It wouldn't be surprising if someone declared it the worst film of the year, though there are certainly other films that aren't up to par. Considering a star like Keanu Reeves was involved, the final product is quite disheartening. The story comes from an emerging filmmaker, which presented a significant undertaking for the production company—an effort that ultimately didn’t succeed. However, this wasn’t really the root of the problem. Perhaps the director's cut would have fared better than what we see now. What exists is a bilingual drama with echoes of beloved cult films, but the studio clearly intended to create something profitable. Because of this secondary plan, it underwent numerous edits to condense it into a single narrative thread. Ultimately, the film lost its way; that’s likely why another director received credit for it. It's difficult to form an opinion about the plot itself because the storytelling is muddled by a clash of genres intended for separate stories. The plot twist felt lifted from another movie entirely, leading to a rather absurd resolution. Keanu Reeves’ character barely had anything to do, and I can’t fathom why he agreed to be in this project. If his portion was removed, it could have made a respectable short film; the same goes for the other side of the story. I'm confident that most viewers will feel disappointed, while a small fraction might enjoy it or simply find themselves bewildered. 3½/10
