This is an enjoyable, small-scale exploitation film possessing a unique ambiance common to some British productions from that time period. The way the characters are portrayed and the settings appear feels distinctive, although this particular movie has a harsher edge, which led to its being the sole UK film included on the official 'video nasties' list in the early 1980s. It’s not especially startling, considering how ridiculous that moral panic was. I won't go into detail about what happens. The narrative centers around a troubled Udo Kier dealing with past experiences while living with his lover Fiona Richmond and his transcriber/possible stalker(?) Linda Hayden. The film unfolds gradually, and it’s best to avoid spoilers. It isn't an exceptional movie and certainly fits the exploitation genre, but if you appreciate that period and its style, chances are you will like this one as much as I did. There is a somewhat callous quality to it, along with some erotic elements; just don't anticipate anything overwhelmingly shocking because its appeal comes from the atmosphere and the subtly odd acting rather than typical exploitation thrills.
